About Us

Red Ribbon Living Well CIC (RRLW) is a non-profit organisation dedicated to uplifting, supporting and empowering those affected by or living with HIV.  The group was formed in 2009 with the aim of creating a peer support network for people living with HIV, particularly within  BAME and immigrant communities across South-East London.

"Red Ribbon Living Well CIC is an award-winning and award-nominated community organisation that has been recognised by Lewisham Council for its outstanding contribution to the local community.
Through its innovative, community-led approach to tackling health inequalities, promoting HIV awareness, and improving access to healthcare, the organisation has become a trusted partner across Lewisham and South East London."

What sets us apart?

RRLW focuses on supporting the whole person – whether that's mental health, housing, escaping domestic violence situations, juggling multiple comorbid conditions, or more.

Over the past 17 years, RRLW has grown from its grass-roots beginnings into an award-winning community lifeline for South Londoners, having won the HSJ Award 2025 and the 2026 CAHN (Caribbean & African Health Network) award, along with many other nominations.

We have partnered with various corporate and public institutions across a range of industries, from public health and the NHS to Gilead, ViiV Healthcare, and education settings such as Goldsmiths University.

The first part of our name, "Red Ribbon", references the globally recognised  HIV/AIDS symbol (and the first ever awareness ribbon for a health cause – also the inspiration for the now-ubiquitous pink breast cancer awareness ribbon).

The second part, 'Living Well', is a reference to to our vision:

A world free from HIV stigma and discrimination, where everyone – regardless of background or health status – has equal opportunity to live a fulfilled, healthy life.

Where does the name "Red Ribbon Living Well" come from?

Our Objectives

  • Promoting HIV awareness and other related issues.

  • Empower individuals affected and living with HIV to lead healthy lives.

  • Provide empathy through peer support, education through one-to-one engagement, and encourage self-management and motivation.

  • Challenge ignorance, perceived stigma and discrimination, and negative culture perceptions of HIV.

  • Provide a safe enviroment where individuals can share their hopes, fears and lived experiences and empower each other to live their most fulfilled lives.

Meet the Team

Red Ribbon Living Well is an entirely volunteer-run organisation. Although we are incorporated as a CIC, we do not conduct any profit-generating activities, and we are currently in the process of converting to a CIO (Charitable Incorporated Organisation).
